Pandemic Projects

(2020)

2020 was a year of changes, as we all know. Due to a family emergency in January, I moved in with my grandma. I set up a bookmaking studio in her dining room and continued making blank journals/sketchbooks with marbled paper covers.

At the same time, I started becoming obsessed with sewing and was playing around with quilting on the side. This was in my time off while managing the frame shop at the Joann Fabrics in Hudson, OH fulltime.

That March, the world shut down, and I decided that leaving my job temporarily was going to be the safest thing for everyone I lived with. No one was doing custom framing anyway. Being home every day, I cranked up book production and started playing with marbled fabric, making pouches. I also made my share of fabric masks.

Below are two collections of books I created during that uncertain time. The first books are large journals with marbled covers and a heavy canvas spine. The second collection of smaller books features the same design but with red canvas spines. For those, with wind in my sail from sewing so much, I felt inspiration to make them each an extra precious booksleeve with a marbled fabric inner lining.

These items are discontinued, and I sadly have no plans to make any books, booksleeves, or pouches to sell. Please no inquiries.
